‘Go Green’
Thatched huts and tiled roofs,
Raw stones and clay bricks,
And houses made of rammed earth
Where our ancestors once lived.
Twigs and mud pots,
Grind stones and nutritious corns,
Made their ‘Eats’ so tasty;
Not so wealthy, but so healthy.
Cows and goats, fed them with milk,
Butter and ghee; and crops that was grown
With home-made manure
Made them sturdy, hearty and nice.
‘What’s wrong?’ I just asked
Could we be so fragile? I just reckon.
Coffee houses and restaurants
Roof gardens and star hotels
Junk foods and fast foods
Make us so obis!
Flying machines and limousines
So lazy we feel when strapped to seats;
Videos and play-stations; computers and I-pads;
And over doze of studies, make us lazy geese.
Stop! Watch! Turn around and see;
What you can do to help yourself?
‘Hurt you not, oh dear; ‘Go green’ without fear
For each tree that is felled, you lose a kid, that’s yours!
‘Go Green’, Oh lads; ‘Go Green’, Oh lasses
‘Go Trim’, Oh grown-ups and make Her as green as ever.
