Paris
Born of deity; given to poverty
Neither could forsake him...
An infant Prince to the God’s
Left to perish on a desolate Mountainscape
Prevailed by the breast milk
Of mother nature’s caring creatures
This beautiful Prince of Troy
Declares his love for a River God’s nymph
A courting, a marriage, a child...
heartlessly left and abandoned
Due to the God of God’s
Cunningly avoiding discord
A parade of three naked beauties
Bribes, sex, kingdoms offered…
A Prince’s foreboding judgement
A promised beauty delivered
A rampaging war waged
A desperate rouse plotted
A gifted horse slyly offered
Cease of a battle torn city
Death of an unskilled Prince
The fall of Troy
Revisiting this, I find it
Revisiting this, I find it just as beautiful and just as impressive!!!

I Still Have Not finished The Iliad
Troy with Brad did not help much. Paris wanted the prize and then died. The gods have a sense of humor, apparently as does the Homeric poet. Like the Odyssey, a good tale. :)
Thank you, and I agree; they
Thank you, and I agree; they did have a sense of humour. They were also very vindictive.
I have never read the Iliad
I have never read the Iliad word for word, so I guess ever finished it. I did read it in senior high (senior year) a.p. Greek literature, and passed the exam at one hundred percent, but I depended on that translation's internal summaries more than every word for word that old Homer put down.

I have always been
I have always been quite fascinated with Greek Mythology. By no means at all am I an expert. Just decided to take a different approach when I saw the word of the day "Paris"
I Like The Myths Too
Over the last ten years I have been reading up on the Valhalla gods - they're fun too. Still plowing through the Iliad - I have a soft and hardbound copy - both are bad translations may be the problem. I miss the poetry. - slc
