Little miss sunshine
Many years ago there was this lone and sad little girl, she had golden hair, very pretty I might say, but no one never really understood her. This girl lived confused; she thought everyone just looked at her ignoring her voice. She was always wrong in front of the eyes of her parents and her whole family; she couldn’t understand why she was not accepted as she who she was. As the years went by, she distanced herself from her family, growing in a place which she couldn’t call home, she thought “why was I placed in a family that doesn’t want me?” she had been living a pretty empty life, drugs and alcohol were filling the empty space that she felt in her heart. But those things only satisfied her for just the night. During the day she was even sadder that she was as a kid. Her family even though they did not understand her, they loved her so much and she could not see all the love her family was giving her. She could only think about herself, so selfish and self barring. She felt like she needed to protect herself from everything, even her family, they were strangers that she did not know. One day, she was walking down an alley and she suddenly heard some music coming from an abandoned warehouse, it was this weird combination of hip-hop and crump and stuff she didn’t recognize, she danced well at clubs and parties but she never really paid any attention to it until that day. As she walked into the warehouse there was this girl, same age, she looked a lot like her physically, and she was dancing with such strength, emotion and power that you could almost feel what she was expressing through dancing. She was break dancing, popping, locking, and waving in such an amazing way that caught this lone girls attention. She felt so drawn to it that as soon as the music stopped she couldn’t help herself and asked the other girl, “where did you learn all that? That was amazing” she responded with a sorrow look in her face, “in the streets” they both looked at each other and knew they were both alone, but not for the same reason, the girl from the warehouse had lost her family in a gang fight, it was an accident they were at the wrong place at the wrong time. The girls both knew the other one was in pain, but they didn’t want to pride so they started talking about stuff they liked and son on. They became pretty good friends, they found out that dancing was the only way they could let out all their emotions in a good way, not having to drink or do drugs, and they were both excellent at that, expressing them selves through dancing. So this little miss sunshine started seeing the world through a different perspective, she realized that her family was just trying to help her, not in the most reasonable way but they always wanted what was best for her. She started crying, realizing all those years with her family she missed because of her immaturity, the other girl couldn’t help asking why she was so upset, pouring tears she told her the story about her family and how she was not the only one misunderstood, and then the other girl with a smile on her face told her “you know its never to late to ask for forgiveness, your family, no matter what you do they will always love you. I lost my family in a gang fight and could never say to them how sorry I am for running away just as you did.”
The girl returned home with a different look on her face, one that her mother did not recognize but as soon as she saw her daughter ran to her and just said thank you. The girl now thanks to her friend realized that love is expressed in many different ways; it is expressed so rarely that sometimes we cannot understand that it is actually love.
