SOUL FOR SALE
It started of so well,
They said we made the perfect pair.
I clothed myself in your glory and your love.
How I loved you. How I cried.
The years of care and loyalty were nothing but a sham it seems.
You’d say, “I’ll love you till I die!”
How do I live my life with out you?
I’m naked and far from home.
My God! Was all that love in vane?
I hang my head and advertise,
“A soul for sale or rent”
I’ve lost my heart, I’m cold inside,
I have no real intent.
Each night I cry!
I still believe that lie.
"I’ll love you till I die."

i liked your comments more than your poem. i think that you try so hard to express thru poetry that your natural flow is lost.... that's why the comment speaks louder than the poem... just my opinion!
HI Patricia,
This is an intense poem. It brings more feelings along its lines than what the words could bring to the visiual conception. It's true, words are differently taken by us. To a poet like you, they are bright stars in a dark sky, to others they might just be words. Nice to read your works again.

i like this
poem to its tight .
i do love the title
it is a marvelous metaphor
and liked this most:
"I hang my head and advertise,
“A soul for sale or rent”
I’ve lost my heart, I’m cold inside,
I have no real intent."
it is most heart touching
thanks for sharing

Dear Patricia What a sad poem in many ways… Yes, I have been there as well - so I understand this kind of pain, then I too cry in words. We don't always have the answers - just the pain. A nostalgic poem, written in the ink of a broken heart. Regards Donkerman
