Have you ever been
invited into a
perfect idea,
something like the
last rays when they
slide down
stacks of sky,
when they are
liquid wisdom
soaking every shadow
in your
brittle moments,
and adoring your
one life,
right now,
and every starry spray
is your own light
reflected back,
because you
are that loved,
and so wanted?
And have you ever
spiraled into
that imperial space,
vast as imagination—
a ruby chamber
living an angel's life
inside the lordly rose
and found a lost portion
of yourself,
then whole,
you were everything
you needed?
If you have,
even for a moment,
felt like the most
important concept
the universe ever had,
and were crushed in
its pulsing light,
its unendurable wonder,
its elation
for the essence of you,
for nothing you ever did,
or didn't do,
just because you are,
and will always be,
then you have,
dear pilgrim
in this lonely dance,
entered into the arms
of God.

In this poem, your
In this poem, your particularly powerful style of poetry proves itself to be astronomical, cosmological, and theological. These, in a lesser style, would have been burdensome to the poem and the reader; but, in your adroit ability with words, they become delightful, invocative, and comforting to the reader. Wow! This poem could only have been written by you. To borrow an old advertising slogan, the source of which I now forget, while you may have competitors, you will never have any competition for the greatness you have already achieved, and the greatness beyond that still awaiting you.
