Anniversaries Of Our Love
When it was one
we were young and partied down with the sun
dining and dancing by firelight,
making love all through the night.
When it became two
was just me and you
we looked into each others eyes
as we held one another
speaking with no words,
promising forever.
Years passed and we celebrated five
together, our love was alive
when we touched, sparks still flew
together we were special,
we both knew.
They say seven is a lucky number
ours was better, our seventh summer
we made love in water so clear and blue
a vision of beauty I saw in only you.
Nine came along and we celebrated our life
I, your husband
you, my beautiful wife
we went to the movies and necked like young lovers
even in a crowd,
we saw no others.
Ten came with a party from our friends
sharing tears of happiness as we joined hands
we knew how special our love was in these times,
as we gathered in celebration out neath' the fresh pines
More years gone and fifteen was here
all I ever wanted out of life,
was to have you near.
I picked wildflowers and laid them out on the spread
we made love in the beauty of their fragrance,
upon our bed.
Twenty years to this day we said, I Do
twenty years now
and the heart of this man overflows with love for you.
We dined and danced by moonlight
making love all through the night.
