Shattered In The Swallow Of Goodbye
How can you discover hope in the truth again
when faith lays shattered
beneath the blood that still finds a way to flow
slow
at the bottom of your heart where the beat is fading
wading
in the shallow of each breath taken
awakened
by a past that keeps catching up while looking back?
Are they ghosts approaching
in the death awaiting these winter days
or deadly storms passing in the chilled sighs of
goodbye
losing their echoes in the winds of a torrent breeze
quieted
by the lost shadows finding me alone
swallowed?
Please let me know
I plead; down on my knees
Somehow...Someway
there will be an answer in the questions I beg of you
maybe
then I will once again find that hope to hold onto
I could even light candles to see your way through
where you will find me standing here still
warm
in the cold of you.
