Normality

When all is said and all is done,
The funerals over, the hymns are sung.
Normality returns and your back at work,
Then guilt steps in, for all it's worth.

If only this and if only that,
And what if this and what if that.
As she lives on, inside your head,
You can't accept, that she's now dead.

Some can't comprehend, they haven't lost,
The price you've paid, the terrible loss.
So nothing's said, as it's easier to,
Its not their fault, you once did too.

You try to move on, every single day,
And hope your thoughts won't fade away.
With the passing of time, the easier it gets,
But the less you think, in the guilt steps.

As time ran out, it wouldn't stop,
If only you could've stopped the clock.
So after all is said and all is done,
Normality's gone, only memories live on.

A melancholy poem at the loss of someone close to you, but very well written and an interesting and entertaining read; I particulary liked your rhyming in this poem.
