There's something about brotherhood
That makes all people feel good
We all share a common goal
In which each man can play a role
Now, can you imagine this
No one feeling prejudice
Disregarding race and creed
Taking care of other's needs
It's a time for caring, a time for sharing
A time for rift repairing
True brotherhood could make war cease
And then we all could live in peace
Trust will spread throughout the world
when the banner of brotherhood flies unfurled...
Author's Notes/Comments:
I wrote this my junior year in HS. It was a humanities class assignment that we had a couple of weeks to complete so naturally I forgot all about it. I wrote it in study hall in like 5 minutes tops for class and it won a merit certificate from the National Conference of Christians and Jews that I was presented with at Daley Plaza downtown and it was displayed in the lobby there and mentioned in the Sun Times....pretty cool....I just wrote it here from memory...that was like geez...over 25 yrs. ago...yikes....I still feel stuck at age 19.Don't think I will ever grow up...Peter Pan, I mean peter Pam...ha ha...
pam, this is a great poem, it couldnt be more true.....but yet a lot of people dont take this message in, ive even been guilty of it.....
great piece. it says a lot in a few words. if only people would support one another and dont judge on color race looks etc the world would be a better piece.
