MANAGING EXPOSURE

Folder:
JOURNAL # 41
exposure can be
a beautiful thing
in the light of its
harsh ugliness
for truth is scattered
in shards
and in such pieces
it can easily be collected
I am confronted these days
by an awful lot of pain
in the poetry I'm permitted
and or requested of
to read
yet sometimes amid
the crap and the anger
along side the hatred
and it's subsequent humor
even beneath the rocks
of obvious vulgarity
sincere gems appear
within lines so meticulously
writ
about some previously
undisclosed journey taken
whether it's
a lesson learned here
or a life altered there
these things can come
through in glorious layers
their colors vibrant
almost mysterious and
inadvertently charming
they touch me without hands
and pull me into their complexly
woven little world
without any real physical strength
of their individual  own
just the enormous emotional tug
that they give here and there
through the honesty of their lines
so much beauty is shown
in even the most terrible
heartbreak

poetry reveals the invisible connection
between the psyche and the soul
the higher self often filters through
at indirect intervals
that is unless one forces the words
and ideas to come before it is
their time to be explored
without the spirit's involvement
the ego takes over
and what is shed is not always
good poetry at all
but a lot of complaining
and grumbling laid down
as if placed in a diary
of an upset teenage girl
that is the poems we should
read and make very little
comment on
for they are drawn upon
a bankrupt account
for ego without the true
involvement of spirit
is just pointless ranting
that knows no beginning
middle nor end.............
