GRATITUDE

Folder:
JOURNAL # 41

I am blessed that the doors to love
for me swing wide open
caught as I formerly was
in a fog of misinformed intent
they now limply collapse
to allow me to see what really
once was
just a lovely, lonely man drowning
and seeing this mirage called me
he pulled such found item close
convinced himself I was
a savior of sorts
but as the shine in his eyes

faded from my face with time
he realized I was just a passing woman
little more than a poetess with which
he could exchange some memorable words
we were but time keepers for each other
for but the briefest of times
my today is lovely and I could never regret
the fracture he and I mistook for a deep
abiding forever love
he knows deepest in his carefully compartmentalized
being
that I always wish him the absolute best
he was a well lit road marker
that showed me a clear path
a turn I took in a troubling time in my life
and my heart holds no bitterness whatsoever
for the way things between us gradually fell apart
'Gratitude' is the finest jacket I can now place
upon the shoulders of what once was ours alone

to cherish
via my memories of him today
so thank you my dearest of all poetic sirs
you valued me highest when I needed you to do so the most
and such kindness from thee I shall never forget

just as all those poems for each other we together

so unselfishly writ

the immortality of what we once were

stands untouched

even in the face of any possible future regret

for the force of your indominatable strength

enriched my deepest will.............

Wow. I really love the way you wrote this. I've admired your work in the past. Nice to see you pop in once in a while. Beautiful!

Thank you so very much,

I do indeed love to pop in with a poem or two. It's ingrained in my nature. Keep writing yourself and best of all keep reading too. Sincerely, Melissa
