canaries in coal mines
clever outfitters we be
I smile at the earthiness
of divine
the rapturous markets me
I mind not the naysayers
with their worrying script
warnings are rain water
pelting a rain barrels' lip
the sun rises every morning
just as beautifully for everyone
though the perception of its grace
varies in each eye over which it
shone
no two beings can agree on
one particular pattern
that walks a soul
through its own house of love
it takes two carefully invested
hearts
to build that monument
to house each their hopes
and the purity of their dreams
some build shacks
with misguided themes
not realizing they will collapse
it's all in the construction
mutual care to the dedication
of such sought structure
not a rush job
cutting corners
to hurry things along
and not damning the materials
when they sag or fall into disrepair
one can only adequately judge
one's own
carefully or carelessly
constructed home
and in the moment that too
can be flawed
but look back on
the collapse of your
precious cardboard palace
and render not a limited
opinion
on the construction of others
but rather the flaws carried out
by the two whom while in it
not so happily roamed
for the damage is already
set in
in your own eye
for self construction
one does not hire a cross
eyed contractor
who damns the idea of
a peaceful abode
but with his own tools of grace
he plants a burning cross
instead in their backyard
rather one prays for the
guidance of such a lost
angry soul......................
