today's moral compass
has been hijacked
by political rhetoric
and inarticulate bickering
good manners it seems
anymore
is a boil to be lanced
upon the vocal chords of society
all meaningless talking points
more finely now
sharpening their ever present
arrows of hatred
with selfish choices of
loaded phrases
and doubled back
finger pointing
again and again
blood liable indeed
puss in the eye of
the media and her public
spewing out
from a mouth attached
to an over bloated ego
defending itself
missing the entire point
of what all the violence
is truly about
the cold wall of the ego
keeping love,
understanding, true sympathy
and sanity always at bay
so with such 'A Collective Infliction'
society cannot soon expect
to so easily recover
one cannot begin to heal
what one refuses to recognize
so the abyss and void will only
grow larger
as peace on earth
is back seated
to just another lovely
phrase one vaguely recalls
reading from the Bible.................
