AND WHO OF US BENDS

Folder:
JOURNAL # 41

save us all
from
such sore saddle
sea saw
the country is
under the gun
the one percent
nudging the ninety-nine
further and further down
likely exclaiming to friends
and themselves
it's only just a little nudge
ah but step back
and reintroduce that phrase
what if a semi tractor trailer driver
said that to a fellow driving a motorcycle?
startling now isn't it
to reconsider it in a different light
the republicans will soon have
a new sheriff in town
while their topsy turvy
current congregation bucks on
the lower grades
refusing as they are to mind their
seniors
new metal verses the rusting swords
of old
and both now oh so suspiciously
being drawn
the haves and haves not council
will all too sickeningly again
come to blows
'And Who Of Us Bends'
to absorb the paddle's
unavoidable pain
who else
but the usual victims
the fragile
the weak
but firstly
the weakest
tottering helplessly
they take the brunt
so my big bully government brothers
no matter from which side you fight
don't argue just to score political points
when the ninety-nine in your constituents
needs you to be
first selfless, brave and incorruptible
by the power for which they bequeathed
to you
so to aid them in the eventual betterment
of their everyday lives........

Author's Notes/Comments:

I wrote this out of shear annoyance over our representing bodies. I think from my writing most can tell I am a proud independent leaning into the liberal realm as that I truly believe we are our brother's keeper and we should help those who need help and not just line our own pockets. Some would call that being a socialist but to me that is a socialist only in the best sense of the word. Anyway this evolved from the republicans fighting among themselves the 40 tea partiers butting heads with the establishment  senior republicans and mucking up the works wanting to hold things up over small matters. That particular annoyance is what sparked this poem in me on that day. I get annoyed at the other side of the aisle too. I just wish our government was more for the people and less for themselves and I think that shows.

I like the poem

And could talk a good long while

With you about it all.

It would just leave me  (  fill in the blank  )

But I consider myself an Independent also

With a real desire for an alternative party.

" They  " would try to hi-jack that party too.

So it always leaves US out in the cold

In the end.

Well Said

I feel the same way about our representing bodies. The cities were allowed to crumble and the investment is going out of the country. We do not need another war. We need peace to rebuild and invest in us for a change. Wealth concentrated in top 1% - time to legislate for the U.S. citizen since it is the little money we have that is financing everything and most of that goes to the Pentagon. Good and though provoking write - allets
