leaving her comfortable journalistic post
back into poverty she walked
too much weight
upon such slight shoulders
for her efforts was all she got
plain spoken in home spun dresses
uphill challenges she valiantly sought
migrants and indigents she tirelessly
stood up for
against the vast network of child trafficking
she argued and fought
more than twenty one thousand saved
hers and others efforts tout
one tiny voice in a whirl wind of screams
and yes
some in the world are able to hear
her whispers
steadfastly she is building them up as shouts
one whisper on a whisper piled upon yet another
and voices of discouragement form
children sold into but pulled out of prostitution
as women
align their shoulders to hers
and forcing a slanting society to take notice
a country is only as strong as the evil it allows
to thrive among its borders..............

Your words paint pictures
I love the imagery in this piece. You paint the picture of these women's struggle so clearly and vividly that it almost makes you want to turn away from the screen. It's at once heartbreaking and enthralling. Amazing.
That is the beauty of being moved................
I think the person who did that report for PBS intended for people to be moved by what they saw. I just carried that torch a little bit. I'm glad my little peem helped tap into another's humanity and compassion. There is plenty to go around. Some as you know would choose to ignore their own. To me that would seem a dismissal of fortune. A lesson averted. a cry gone unheard. Is nice to know I'm not the only one who heard the tree fall in the forest. Thank you for your honest assertion. our souils are gems of antiquity not long intended for this earth. Sincerely, M.
