to the vast summer meadow
you contribute your tender beauty
the vibrant color, the warmth
that gentle eye line captivation
the fragrant sway of the flowers
all of which you side wing step through
for this is your theater
you command
your oyster, your Xanadu
and you and your diversified
brethren are the stars
visual award winners
the entire lot of you
winged ballerinas
upon the breeze
you Pirouette
engaging beauty with
the prairie shrubbery
enchanting the human eye
with the flutter of your wings
so terribly delicate
the crickets and the frogs
cannot compete
there is pollen in the air
and off to the hill side one
can hear calves bleat
a glorious orchestra is cuing up
a 24/7 summer stock performance
oh encore, encore
this audience of one pleads.............

Author's Notes/Comments:

I was watching last night of all things an old Hallmark movie and the title was, 'The Magic Of Ordinairy Days' and in it at one point the wife is going out into the meadow to walk and watching the butterflies fly about it was just so lovely that I placed myself in her imagined path and this poem formed from that experience. I'm so enchanted by butterflies and their short lived delicate nature, so tender and beautiful. I never tire of seeing butterflies in summer. I see them as tiny gifts sent to me from God to make me smile. Anyway, I hope you enjoy my little offering.

Butterflies & Hallmarks

I love old movies where the director took the time to show man/woman in nature - just for the image of some happiness state or beauty of mind. I sit for hours watching butterflies in my gardens out back - all colors and sizes and the occasional moth - poem worthy indeed! - Lady A

All butterflies even moths are poem friendly I believe

as you say! Butterflies to me represent the sunny warmth and bright gentle loveliness that is heaven. God sends them here to remind us where we really belong. I heard if a butterfly lands on you and flutters its wings that that is God blessing you and if that is true then I know I have been blessed indeed. Glad we are on a similar page in life Lady A. Sincerely, M.
