~Joe's Bad Day~
The botched execution
troubled Joe as he drove home. He knew
his error caused the condemned to
catch fire and bleed from every pore
as he convulsed and died
in the electric chair. Reporters,
and other witnesses,
saw the whole thing.
It wasn't pretty.
Joe promised himself
he would do a better job
next time, then,
as he drove up to his house,
he cussed, remembering
he was supposed to stop
for milk and bread.

I like this. I like it a lot! The understated voice is perfectly deployed in this poem.
