will hit the floor;
crash into half-moon shapes,
as she, with her confession,
cowers in a doorjamb, embraces
the interruption that has saved her
from a close encounter
with truth.

Better to erase the sun
and shoot-howl at the moon
when the earth is still
and feelings quake
Eat from broken glassware
drink from a stream of cowering
but always recall the day when
the moon was hunter round
and the earth refused to be quiet
