I can't promise I'll be there,

I can't say that I'll always care.

I can't be sure I'll never lie,

I can't pledge love until I die.

I can't promise to give hope,

I can't assure you that I'll cope.

I can't tell you I'll provide,

I can't always give you a place to hide.

I can't say I'll always be sweet,

I can't tell you there'll never be heat.

I can't give you everything,

I can't promise you anything.

I can't say you're the one,

I can't say we'll never be done.

I can't assure you of my love,

I can't promise, anything, when push comes to shove.



I just can't assure you of a single thing,

I'm sorry, I just don't know what God will bring.

I hope that his plans bring us two together,

But, God is the one who decides my forever.

I pray that my future invloves me with you,

I'll have to wait for God to prove true.

I rely on  these words to get me through.

"You are you, and I am I,

You do your thing and I do mine.

And, if in the end, God puts us together,

It is beautiful."



For, I know not the plans he has for me,

And I hope that His plans put me with thee.

But until I find out what's in store for me,

I'll be content to spend now with thee.
