I will not stay one minute more
Within this dream upon the shore
Now that it’s clear to me
My life is out upon the sea
I thought the shore serene secure
But now I know it’s just a lure
To keep me from a life awake
And quietly my soul to take
The sea is rough and savage sure
It tears apart what is pure
But trying to protect myself
Confines my spirit to a shelf
It may seem safe, but this I’m sure
It will not happiness procure
When all of life is wild and free
Embracing waves is sure the key
So life and sea I welcome thee
Although my death you will be
For without you I am doomed
Never alive to be entombed
