Home-Grown Love

This picture is an original acrylic painting on canvas by the author, Jessica Cook Martin

Home Grown Love

Someone to love, be loved in turn,

Children to add smiles,

A job fulfilling as I work,

Worth all the extra miles,

Two arms to hold me when I’m sad,

Soft words that welcome sleep,

A faith sustaining me to peace,

The Lord my soul to keep,

A home fire when the chill is nigh,

To rent or maybe own,

A man who treasures me as his,

Who’s mine and mine alone,

Enough of wealth to ward off need,

With need enough to pray,

Family near to hold so dear,

That’s all I ask this day.

No clothes with tags designers made,

No car that’s sleek and fast,

No bank account that staggers mind,

Just home-grown love that lasts.

Excellent and well said. I think that is all we really need. It'd sure be enough for me!

Hi Jessica!
Gotscha! - finally. I ferreted and fished around for your index site and could not get it when clicking the appropriate button.
First of all. Congratulation - your name is now Jessica Martin. That was the family name of the "Little Flower" I was away from the computer, - the heat is simply too great.
I missed your page, and hope to have quicker access direct to it instead of going via Poetic arts-Painting.
You are my favorite poet and I missed you so much!
Congratulations, again and God's richest Blessing.
Warmest regards
Elizabeth Dandy
