I look at you--all broken
Not like the babe I bore.
My mother's love, a token,
So bent and battle sore.
How did I fail you, Darling?
My son, my life, my child?
I long to draw you closer,
But here am I--exiled!
Your pain is mine. I love you!
I grieve with every blow.
Your heart is crippled, bleeding,
Who else could better know?
Am I to blame when you fail?
Did I somehow forget
To teach you lessons needed?
I bear so much regret!
I'm lost for words to comfort.
There are none and I'm sure,
But God can reach where I can't
With help that's right and pure.
He knows you even better
Than the mom who cries at night.
And He can keep you safer,
Never lose you from His sight.
I've talked to him about this.
He listened as before.
I told Him that I love you.
It's you who shut the door.
I asked Him to watch over
He's seen the steps you've trod.
Today I'm letting go, Son.
I'm giving you to God.
This is so beautiful. I know that you are a wonderful mom.
beautiful poem .
Well Jessica, you have finally done it. As I read this to my husband there are tears streaming down my face.
You in this piece have done the only thing we can do when we can do no more.
I can feel the ache in your heart and the questions that you ask of yourself. It is evident that he is loved. Has he seen this? Perhaps a look into his mother's heart is something he needs to see.
Wonderful work Jessica as always and especially touching.
Love

Oh Jess, this is a beautiful, but oh so sad write. You really touched me with this one as I raised six children myself and have had many, many scary moments and a lot of heartbreak.BUT also a multitude of wonderful times.A wonderful heart touching poem.
Jessica,
I feel the pain you are experiencing at this time. I have been down that road before. I have a son, consummed by drugs, his days on earth are numbered short. God will give you the strength to love from afar. That door may one day open and he will let you back into his life, one way or another. Do not loose faith. Linda
Jessica,
I know where this is coming from, from what you have told me.
I think you are doing the best possible. And, speaking of the best,
this poem is most excellent. Really great, Jessica.

It seems that children sometimes are going to go down the wrong road inspite of our best efforts but prayer will keep them between the ditches even when they go down the wrong road. Sometimes all we can do it trust God to lead them back to the right place.
