Robert Bishop

R  arely comes a student with so natural a charm

O  nly Robert fills the bill:  intelligent and warm.

B  efore I ever taught him, I had noticed his wry wit.

E  very inch the Honor Student, blessed with pride and grit.

R  easons can elude me as to why I chose this field.

T   eaching kids like Robert reminds me and I'm filled

B  oth with joy and hope that, he'll continue in his life

I   ntelligently  choosing what is  good, and true, and right.

S  ometimes I tease and coax him to challenge him somewhat.

H  e always answers me in turn.  An easy mark he's not.

O  h, Lord, I pray you keep him in the hollow of your hand,

P  roviding for him daily as he grows, becomes a man.

Author's Notes/Comments:

Robret read this to me tonight(11/22/02) and he seemed to like it a lot. You should keep on wrighting poems about your students to enspire them.

Robert must have been so pleased. Acrostics are hard and this one did not seem at all forced. Good job.
