One is how my dresses plaster
To my pantyhose.
I walk the full length of the hall
Before I even know!
Two is how I shake and shiver
Every waking minute.
I just don't like a frozen scene
That has ME painted in it.
Three is scraping my windshield
To get the frost coat off.
I stand there like a Polar Bear
Just trying to defrost.
Four is wearing bulky coats
Zipped up to my chin.
Constricting all my movement---
Moves like breathing out or in.
Five is wearing socks and shoes
Most everywhere I go.
I LONG for barefoot summer days!
Dear Lord! I miss them so!
Six is seeing all my breath
As milky puffs of air.
Floating out in front of me,
Who needs to see it there?
Seven makes me gag and choke
Because I hate the flu!
Sickness goes with winter
Like peanuts at the zoo.
Eight is how the whole world looks--
No color and no charm.
Barren branches, dull brown grass,
No beauty 'til it's warm.
Nine could be the way I feel
All trapped inside and bored.
I paint with colors found in spring
Or fall, while caged indoors.
Ten is easy. It's the worst of all
My other peeves.
It's all the lack and plainness
After viewing Autumn's leaves.
Since it is the start of winter 2005, I of course had to read this when I saw the title! I agree with every one of your reasons. The first snow fall is so beautiful - everything all covered with white and the world so quiet. Then cars start going by, the sanders and plows, and the white turns all gray and seems to last FOREVER. I won't even mention the temperatures. Fall is my personal favorite but what it leads to isn't.

This was cute...I enjoyed reading...
Very nice. Boy, you sure hate winter, huh? What you need is a little snow......nothing fixes the drearyness of winter like a good dusting of snow. It adds definition and beauty.
Nice write,
Kim
Jessica, I couldn't agree more.
You inspired me to write this.
You are the first to see it.
Bring On The Spring
Bring on the freshness of spring
when songbirds fill the air
with melodious melodies.
Bring on the freshness of spring
when azalea flowers bloom brightly
under a canopy of green leaf trees.
Bring on the freshness of spring
when children chortle gleefully
in fields of carpet soft grass.
Bring on the freshness of spring
when lovers walk hand in hand
beneath the moon of a warm night sky.
Bring on the freshness of spring
when once again life is born anew and,
like nature, love is in full bloom.
Jessica--you must live up North. I'm ready for Summer, too, and I live in New Mexico. I like your style. I read your first and last poem (ZIPPERS) and had fun reading them. You have a lot posted and I'll try to look at some more. I'm working on a short story and a poem right now. Ciao. --Robert
