Like Paper Cuts Upon My Heart

You select the most excruciating thing to say

To cut me to the bone.

It's almost as if your words were sharpest knives

Thin bladed and honed.

I look at you with stunned eyes, a blank expression

As I watch you depart.

Leaving me standing here to bleed and cry from wounds

Like paper cuts upon my heart.

Wow...nice poem! It's short and to the point, yet it means so much.

hi jess..
i like the mention of paper cuts here.
Though just a simple piece of paper, it can deliver a swift and unsuspecting cut, that can be so deep and painful...
i experienced it before , and yeah it's nasty.

Take care... and thanxs for sharing this, ~
