I will not tell my age today,
Although I'm not ashamed.
I speak of deeper, purer things,
And those will here be named.
I've been a partner with life's GUILT
For all my adult years.
I've regretted choices that I made,
Which brought me many tears.
Committment always took me through
When others would give up.
But sometimes living with the task
Was a bitter cruel cup.
However, though I must admit
Those times were very few,
I chanced upon a joyful spell
The day that I met you.
I know not why the powers that be
Chose such a time as this
To deny us of a meeting
Or a friendly glancing kiss.
I only know that if I live
To be a hundredfold,
I won't regret the dreams we shared
And the love we never told.
Dear Jessica
Today it is a month since our friend died...I went to bed at about 5 pm and just slept the day away. It is now 4 am and I still think about him. On reading this lovely poem of yours, I cry, but thank you my friend for this poem...for I have no regrets too!!
Love
Nicolette
