Soft pastel purple blankets the field
As I travel by car through the morning.
The sun, already up, throws reflections and glints,
As it eats all the haze with a burning.
I love early dawning in my countryside home
Where the birds wake me up with their chorus.
There's no other like it on God's great green earth,
And to live here, He surely has blessed us.
I wonder if I have remembered to say
The thanks that I feel overflowing.
I know the Lord knows that I feel joy and peace,
But there's a difference in saying and knowing.
Purple, like passion, envelopes the ground,
But it's melting and soon will be past tense.
Father, I thank You for letting me feel
The abundance of love that I here sense.
The sights and the sounds and emotions that swell
In my breast as I feast on your landscape,
Remind me that You were the first One to paint
Purple haze like a soft whispery cape.
Jessica, I love how you love and appreciate nature; but always give God the credit for His creation. Wonderful: "...a soft whispery cape."
