Self-Portrait

"There is no rose without a thorn,"

The old French proverb goes.

But apply that adage unto me,

And I'm more thorn than rose.

I feel a kinship to Saint Paul.

He said the same thing too.

He said he always did the worst

When the right he tried to do.

Sometimes I'm so frustrated,

People often take me wrong.

But God knows every motive,

And that's what matters all along.

I guess we all feel a little bit of this within ourselves.
Very good poem and thank you for sharing.

You know about thornless roses? Well, you are a thornless rose. Michael
