Love Re-incarnate

The Pharoah's scribe had me locked up

You thought it was my choice.

I lost you on the River Nile.

We women had no voice.

Abducted from my parent's home,

You took me to Loch Ness.

Held me prisoner with your smile,

Our tartan love was blessed.

At Dublin town I heard you sing,

And lost my heart one night.

The brawl that took your life away

Was fought there in my sight.

One long week at Bunker Hill

I helped your mum serve meals.

The Inn was full but so was I.

Your gaze made my heart thrill.

On prairie land Commanche bands

Did loot and take revenge.

One summer day you led the fray.

Your death makes me still cringe.

In Birmingham the trolley ran

Beside my grandpa's store.

I watched you from the window there

And loved you to my core.

On Paris streets I met the troops

That set my people free.

We fell in love, but God above!

They tore you away from me.

Just yesterday I watched you sleep,

And felt that old love churn.

Star crossed lovers we must be,

To know and yet still yearn.

This time unlike the ages past

I won't turn loose, let go.

The two of us were meant to be,

History tells me so.

Author's Notes/Comments:

Just playing around with the idea of reincarnation.  With my luck I'd keep getting my ex.

Jessica!
This is very well done. I really liked it and the way you went thru time.
I must say, I enjoy 'story' poems.....much better than the abstract ones.
And, yours are at the top of my list.

Well, you were away for awhile, and now you have come back with a roar!! This is entirely clever & well contrived!! You take the reader on a journey, with many nice side-tracks, which all come back to the point. Inspiring!! (But your ex- has been relegated to reincarnation on some other planet!!) Tyranno.

"Poe" I'm not, nor "Rich" am I,
but I'll be famous, b'ye and b'ye !
