He went through life looking for answers
To the questions that bothered him so
He was impressive, young and aggressive
Saving the world all on his own
Then he met up with a girl
She took him away
Put his ambitions at bay
The summers and winters
Scattered like splinters
And a couple years just slipped away
Till one morning he woke up
Realized life was passing him by
Tears were falling
While he was recalling
Answers he never found
So he hopped in his car and headed on
Left town without a sound
Three hours west, he settled home
Met new friends and startled all over again
Happier than he'd been in quite a while
And all of the questions, and all of the answers
Were locked away in his attic one day
Cause he liked the quiet, clean country living
And a few more years slipped away
Time progressed and his goals changed
People said he gave up on his dreams
But in truth, he merely learned what was important
He left his world and headed home
To the place he swore would never see him return
And though he had no idea what lay ahead
He was quite content with the hand he was dealt
And a few more years slipped away
Now he lives in his own world
Dreaming each day away
Hearing their criticisms, not caring either way
He'll keep writing his memoirs
Cause he doesn't care what most people say
He never found the answers
To the questions that haunted him so
But through twenty years of perpetual motion
He learned enough to say
That some of it was magic
And some of it tragic
But he had a good life all the way
This poem is one of my favorites. You are truely amazing Justin!
Wow.
This poem is so thought provoking, and wonderfully written! I loved it!
