for as long as I can remember

it has never been my fault

I was a fool in my wild-eyed youth,

I thought love had to be a battle

Or there was nothing worthy to lose.

and for as long as I can remember

I have always been righteous,

Always been justified-

Now it saddens my heart, to see from your side

it takes something from me,

to realize.

that i'm not always the victim

and sometimes i've gotten away with murder,

I have told the biggest person in the room

''I know I'm right''

''So I'm not afraid of you''

And I've used my positions as a tool.

Now the man who I love

Looks at me in disbelief

When I won't look him in the eye

When it's only my view that I can see

And I know that I must change

If he is to stay with me.
