Requiem of Rage

Like a dance with the devil…

The ebb and flow of the sea…

How it swells, subsides…

Consuming the righteous…the weak…

Like a waltz with a broken heel…

In a brimstone ballroom…

A gown meticulously sewn with flames…

Accentuated in ash, red embers…

It burns…buried…unearthed off tempo…

Recoiling like a spring, popping like hot coals…

A fiery misstep, doused in regret…

Singeing the innocent…

Dousing light…love…peace…

Stuck in a spiral, she twirls…

No more……

Author's Notes/Comments:

We all have something afoot, lurking...gnawing. That thing within that's hollow, weak. This poem is about anger and how its inferno smolders, consuming us from the inside out...

"...A waltz with a broken heel/in a brimstone ballroom..." is an engaging image. - slc
