The Unloved Children

Folder:
my poems

Falling down to the ground

A child left in the lost and found

A girl left behind

But no one seems to mind

A boy left in the park

He’s alone in the dark

So many kids on the street

They’re lucky if they eat

Some are missed

Others have never known a mothers kiss

So come on people don’t be blind

Can you really leave them behind

Doesn’t anyone care

This isn’t fair

But life is never just

And ignorance in this world is a must

The World's View Has Not Changed

.

We watched

from the sidelines

as children starved

in third world countries

for centuries as armies

march in and declared

a new owner of the land.

.

We watched

from across oceans

as women watched

their children starve

in mud made housing

with straw roofs.

.

We would not believe

what we were watching

if a Somalian mother

was happy to be in

an american or western

alley scavaging steak

and string bean casts off

and inside garbage bins

in a dark alley.

Poverty is relative. Most street kids here are not starving, drug addicted or homeless, but they eat okay and survive. I know. Values differ, most people in the world live on $3.00 a day.
