King of Despair

I looked to the sky and
saw the stars fall.

I felt the earth tremble
like a leaf in the wind.

Then with the roar of
a lion He came.

The faithful looked at
Him in awe.

"I am but a servant of
the one who comes."

I fell on my knees at
this great wonder.

"Rise up, my child"
he said.

"You, the chosen one
should not kneel."

I looked at my body.
At the robes of a king.

"All this is yours to rule
until the end."

In gratitude for this last
gift, I wept like a child.

"Cry not, oh king of despair.
There is nothing to cry for."

And then I saw the final light
extinguished.
