I try my best to love you

but I feel you slip away

wasting all these precious words

trying to make you stay.

Falling quickly from my grasp

your face does fade from view

find myself remembering

sad recollections of you.

Losing all our memories

of the love that we once shared

putting on a brave face

complete the costume we do wear.

Forgetting what I used to know

not doing things I used to do

making mistakes i've made before

all the while whil;e I see you.

Trying hard to say goodbye

doing my best to move on

getting back the heart you took

knowing what I felt was never wrong.
