Loyalty
A person is either
Loyal
Or not.
If they are
A loyal person,
They are loyal to
Everyone.
When a person claims
A loyalty
To a select few only,
That is not loyalty,
That is a preference
Of judgement.
Loyalty is something
Altogether different,
And usually,
Those who have no integrity
Are not capable of loyalty.
Loyalty.
A word misunderstood.
Be loyal to what you feel, know in your heart, mind
And soul, is true and right for you.
Ignore all else.
You will make mistakes,
But if you do what you know is right,
True, and just
At the time you do it,
That is a quality that no money can buy,
And rare...
Precious...
And when you have that quality,
Everyone knows your true worth.
It cannot help but be seen.

Yes. Unfortunately though, it is so misunderstood. That's life. I know one thing, and that is that I feel a lot better when I'm loyal as much as i can be with everyone. It just makes things a whole lot .....easier? Not to say I'm a pushover...but i do believe in giving peopke the benefit of the doubt to a reasonable degree, and am more than willing to be accountable for the mistakes. I sleep like a baby for it. (And have nooooooo qualms or guilt that way about dropping the ax if need be! ;-).

agreed I have very much a similar philosophy. however, when the loyalty is not reciprocated then there is no desire to maintain it either way. forgive forget forgive regret forgive yourself because them leaving your life is never something to regret. ;)

Agree with your poem and definition on loyalty. A lot of people demand loyalty but as you pointed out loyalty can only be discerned by the individual.
