Apologies are never sufficient,
When something defiles who you are,
They are rooted in winds of insincerity,
The phantom pain of an amputation,
Leaves it's ghost after a scar.
Often sprinkled with great expectation,
Expressions of sorrow, so often bereft,
The sincerity lacking, it wavers,
Under smoldering feelings it left,
And the part most important is missing,
Through cunning footwork arisen from deft.
I'd prefer no apologies, but rather,
Tell me how you came under this plea,
And reveal your intentions to change things,
It's amends that sets both of us free.

I love these lines, "They are rooted in winds of insincerity,
The phantom pain of an amputation,"!
reading your poem made me
reading your poem made me realise something, actually something with a close of friend of mine, that even if he had said he was sorry, it just didnt affect me and the reason is, like your comment says and as well as your poem, it is just a formality, save it, and just prove that you are sorry.
thanks for sharing :)

I just think that it is so
I just think that it is so much more important for people to forgive themselves. The aggressor for their carelessness, and the victim for their expectations of another to be without human frailty or personal issues. i am glad you liked it. Yes, it is sort of a worthless endeavor without forgivness on both sides and compromise to make amends.
...and he asked her, "do you write poetry? Because I feel as if I am the ink that flows from your quill."
"No", she replied, "but I have experienced it. "
Yeh absolutely and thanks
