‘Twas the night before the Royal visit, and all through the house
All the pollies were a scattering, like a flock of startled grouse
A pig had just been caught that day, with his snout deep in the trough
At just $3000 a bottle what, he thought he’d surely get off
Now Premier Barry O’Farrell tripped, and he was forced to resign
Because he said he could not recall, a ’59 Grange wine
A gift that to all of us, we would remember for all time
He’d chosen to forget all about, not a very convincing line
A trap was set and it was set, to catch out other game
Now turned back on its masters hand, before the law we’re all the same
This big bad water company, spread its tentacles out again
And now it is washing all its “Friends”, all the way down the drain
Prime Minister Tony Abbott spoke, and stuck up for his mate
This man is a real hero he said , this man he is so great
You cannot question him on his morals, he is way beyond reproach
We’ve lost a true and honest leader here, to us he’s just a “Cockroach”
The core of this whole matter now, is plain for all to see
There’s something rotten here in Denmark, from this we cannot flee
Some of our “Pollies” are bent and twisted, not accountable anymore
Th’re living the life of “Reilly” here, while we clean up the floor
Now Campbell Newman and Tony Abbott, they have seen the damage done
They are going to water down the laws, and the protections we have won
Queensland’s CMC citizen’s watchdog, lies bloody and beaten on the floor
To get a fair deal up here these days, doesn’t matter to them anymore
Now all it is not lost for us, we still have a card or two to play
To “Keep the Bastards honest” now, we still can have our say
When we put pencil to paper, we can choose from what we know
We can put our stamp on history, we can choose which way we’ll go
To the Labor, Liberal and National parties, you’ve all had your run and lost
Betrayed the trust you got from us, your price not worth the cost
You’ve screwed the “Lucky Country” dry, sucked us of our last drop
You’ll get no more blood from us you thugs, it’s your turn on the mop
Stand up now all you Australians, it’s time to turn the tide
For the future of our children, let’s show Australian pride
Throw out all of these “Boys Clubs”, fresh breeze blow through your hair
Maybe then we can all sing with pride, Advance Australia Fair
