My soul resides within
My body that protects me in
From life and its allegations
Of blame and its accusations
Wounds that I have suffered
Yet, with time it has withered
It wears upon, my pain
Never reminds me again
Of struggles and of retreats
It wears upon itself
The bruises of my time
Absurd and sublime
It carries within, the moments
Of pleasures and of delight
Of my love and its plight
Yet, from time to time
I find myself in a bind
Holding in my breath
As the memories and regrets
Long forgotten and suppressed
Are stirred and ignite
The ashes when brewed
They carry me through
They carry me through this life
