Harlequin Blues

My heart on a platter
I serve it to you, my dear
Along with some salt
Pepper
And iced cold beer
To suit your exquisite taste
Kindly close your eyes as you cut it
For I fear that
The salad and mashed potato cannot
Mask the ugly scars of
Some long forgotten mem'ries
Place it gently in your mouth and
Chew carefully
For you might choke on
Un-cried tears and buried resentment
Indelibly marked on its veins
Pretend your tongue does not rebel
On its bitter aftertaste
Ignore its wild beatings
As it slowly slides down your throat
Leave the plate nice and clean
Sparkling and almost new
I serve my heart on a platter
Solely for you, m'dear
Bon appetit!

Harlequin Blues:

I take this ex-lover has done real bad things to you while pretending to love you. I think you balance your emotions of being let down by such a person and transfer them perfectly to script for the whole world to read is very prettily stated. Emotions carefully contained here and served as "justice is a dish served cold" at the best - is put to work wonderfully in this poem. Enjoy your steely grip of the situation, woe to him who crosses you!!!
