Ode to Society

Family and Friends

Billy, a child we all know.

Brain's the size of his big toe.

Black and blue from last night

May be small, but he puts up a good fight.

All over the village, we hear his yell,

"You ain't my daddy.  Go to Hell."

His step-father, Jack,

He loves to attack.

And his granny ain't no dotter.

She beats Billy with a fly-swatter.

Oh poor Billy, it gets worse.

That Jack, he's quite perverse.

You see, not only Billy does he beat,

But also takes him between the sheets.

Sad, is this tale

Tough as a nail.

And oh so true

Yet goes unnoticed by people like you.

Author's Notes/Comments:

I wrote this poem about the little boy who lived behind me once and what his step-father did regularly.

A very powerful piece of what goes on behind closed doors! It's a shame things like this happen! Good write, though very sad.
