I am an Iraqi I am a Christian

A fumbling of tainted politics, a wasted dispute over religion,

Life is hard for western culture; life weeps death for Iraqi citizens.

Don’t argue with my morals, my faith was my decision.

And it is this faith that gives me hope for the lost and broken innocent.

The stories that I hear are too painful for these spoilt ears,

They resonate through my thoughts and words evolve to tears.

A person’s choice in beliefs has caused them much distress,

But they hold onto this faith for without which their life is meaningless.

These claims are bold but logic persists and strength abolishes pride,

For without such claims these monsters will devour us in their stride.

The skin is cold on such young cheeks that barely witnessed the Earth,

But now they rest away from danger as they did before their birth.

It pains me to think, to write or to say,

But it is important I express myself this way.

And with such pains and hope through faith, we must find a peaceful median,

Because comprehending that is difficult, but I am an Iraqi and I am a Christian.

Revisiting this again, I find

Revisiting this again, I find it just as moving, just as important.

It should never be difficult

It should never be difficult to comprehend that any person is a Christian.  No race, no nation, no gender, no family, no location, no political party has a monopoly upon, or exclusive control, of Christianity.  When Jesus said, "Come unto me, all ye . . ." He meant the "all ye" just as seriously as he meant "Come unto me."  For any human being to attempt to restrict His invitation is to risk facing His wrath in the judgment.  I am glad I found this poem of yours, my dear Brother in Christ.

War & No Peace

In A Word
.
and rumors of war
as the world erodes
from overuse
.
and floods of blood
because we learn
and forget.
.
and faithful predictions
the unelected left
to talk at last.

Wonderfully put

What you have written is so pure it creates a painful image of the world we live in. Hopefully there will be days to come where it is easier to write about joy in our world rather than the pain and suffering.
