The Road

A journey began...one late September day

Leaves not yet changed...

But I would never remain the same

The 8th...hands sweating but I proceed

Two strong arms to greet me

Warmth surrounded me.... yet I shook

It wasn’t cold ...but my teeth chattered

Thoughts scattered.... big sigh

Then I met Mom.... I still feel her hug

So true...what a heart has she

I listened to her every word...what pleasure

As she danced...I watched in awe

Silently I thanked her.... for who she was

And what she brought to this world

Stephen with a Ph....what a gift

One mom truly treasures. And I know why

Together we danced.... that Stephen and I

I don’t think my feet touched the ground

Lost in a dream I dreamt so many times

Frightened not of him but of I

A moonlit night...full of stars shinning

Pale in comparison to his eyes

Talking sharing holding

Quick kisses in the dark

A ride in the woods…spooning till dawn

Toilet seat left high...laughter filling my heart

I really like the road! Till next time so hard to say.

Forever thankful for that late September day
