Take a gulp of air
cold spikes of amazement
gallop down my throat
open my eyes, to tears
blinded by the moonlight
first time Ive seen such beauty
yet I've loved her forever
she's lived under my skin
keeping me warm at night
banishing the shadows
that grip my blackened heart
loose forth an aria
paint the ceiling with rainbows
that swirl to the heavens
kissing the smiling sky
I'm alive
sweet freedom at last
smashing a stake through the heart of my past
writhe all you want, decrepit wraith
the time has come, I've found my faith
flora around me breathing and sweet
exploding in color, begging my feet
to come ever closer, worming in peat
I'm alive
my chest pulsing deep
never again will I become the creep
slipping and sliding 'gainst the wake of my fate
allowing my mind to wallow in hate
smash through the mirrors, break through the strands
biting the shackles that claim my hands
roar to the sun, my greatest friend.
I'm alive
and I'm ready to fight
I'm alive
Beware my vicious bite
let me drive
the demons out with my pen
now I'm high
on the life I've been given.
