Spacewalk

I emerge into the cold

the blackened deep that envelops

all we know as life.

The unfathomable reaches of blankness

dotted with pinpricks of eternal explosions

threatens to destroy our hope

in the struggle for intimate knowledge

of the answers that elude us.

The balance of life and death

is so precarious on this hostile frontier;

the slightest of miscalculations

could hurry our disparaged end.

But isnt that what we want?

To go out in a blaze of glory,

draped in the flag that we fell for?

Such questions as these are mere detriment

as our crew battles the loneliness and dispair

that overtakes us on our bleakest days

away from our loves.

So I sally forth into the pitiless expanse

hoping to save our futures

for at least a few more days.

My crew, my family, my nation is counting on me.

O, if only they knew how much

I wish to shirk my duties

and return home to the warm embrace

of verdant grasses and cleansing winds.

Then they would feel

the love of the sun.

Didn't see the movie

I am kinda stuck in movie lockdown.

I can get into the poem though.

It is like a space and time thing

That IMO is more of a

" Man thing ".

KS

And I really like it

Like that.
