My Grandmother’s Purse

I can’t remember a time where I have seen my grandmother without her purse. I think it is the thing she wears the most. It doesn´t matter if she doesn’t need it, she needs to take it anywhere she goes with her.  That black medium leather bag with a place to put things. Although sometimes she decides to give it a try and change her purse, she always returns to that black purse. It can carry all her things from her bottle of water to a pill she needs. There are strange things she carries in it like a piece of peppermint, chamomile or any other herbs she cuts from places she finds those plants so that she could get home and plant them in her garden. This always leaves a new, interesting and different scent in the purse. Anything we needed when we were with her could be found in her purse.  From a cloth to dry something when water or soda was spilled, wipes to clean our hands, Band-Aids for when we fell, something to eat or drink when we were hungry during a trip, to coins to buy a piece of gum; everything we needed was within that purse of hers. She is not afraid to show what’s inside that purse and when I asked her about some of the things she’s got inside she told me pretty interesting and funny stories about how she got them. Even though there are things that have been there for a long time you can always find new things she finds useful. It seems like that purse is more important than a favorite pair of jeans or any other thing because that bag helps her carry what she decides and she can have as many things she wants in it or could need and finds it easy to carry all of them in one comfortable and convenient place and take it anywhere she decides. Through spring, summer, fall or winter that purse is always convenient and in style. It is amazing to see how she has managed to take care of that purse because I’ve seen her with it since I have memory and I’m almost twenty years old. It’s not an expensive brand purse or a magic bag like the one Mary Poppins had but there is something special in that normal black purse that she really loves. No matter where she is or goes you can always see her with that black purse of hers.

Excellent Reading

about your granny's purse. Not magic like Mary Poppin's - I think you are wrong. Everyone needs a signature item. A talisman to keep close to protect when out of the house. Life is magical, so are purses. It seems to have worked its spell on you, and now on us at Postpoems. Your writing style is also miraculously magically precise in your voice. Bravo! ~~A~~
