Buried By Hand

Folder:
Poetry

i watched the earth crawl on crooked hands
wore your face like a watch
kicked up sand in the storm
women, disappear with a letter
i watched men dance alone

i watched color fade
through belt loops and dirty water
tracing veins
we played with our wings in the warm air
kissing your mouth
like it was mine to taste

i watched stars take shape
above a desert promise
to pretty boys with pretty words
who swallowed my mind
who gave me a name
and buried me by hand

i watched you ache in afternoon paint
pulling out teeth for a vision or vibration
whichever you could feel
a chemical cut
thrown onto the pavement following darkness for an empty heart

the hollow whispers of a running winter
left only sickness and a funeral year
what was already left behind, ruined
where love, no longer hidden
picked apart
by a silent fog
once time, and time never ends
held only your reason of a wanted sea

i watched you crying
many voices
you wait so well
your creation, your choice
your chance
