You come to me under cold sheets of white, rolled in on hard metal with your cocaine nose, your suicide grin
Your accidents, your plan

And without make up, or eyeliner, or hair gel, or nail polish, or skin cream, you come to tell me your stories. Without cosmetics, accessories, designer jeans. No more push up bras.
You talk about tragedy and sadness, you tell me all about your worst bad day. The text you sent to your husband while that greyhound bus just came out of nowhere. Your disease, your heart condition. How you tripped over moving boxes and fell down a flight of stairs, while watching the world spin in slow motion. How bad you hated the world, but how much worse you hated yourself. How you just took too much.
And you lie there, naked in truth.
Now, when the only thing left is the truth, we talk.

After awhile, the smell isn't so bad. Gag reflexes calm, and it blends in with the cold musty air of chemicals and flesh. Like air trapped inside of a coffin.
After you talk and tell me secrets while I work, we share a relationship that's skin deep. I am your bones, your blood. I cut and clamp. How brave you are, you do so well.
Sometimes we're sad, other times we laugh. But the hardest is when we're left with nothing but confusion. Not yet ready, not yet willing to go.
And I let you scream in my ears, I let you cry like a wounded animal. I let you curse god for his absence while you tried so hard, while you played so fair. It always hurts the most when you suddenly realize it was all nothing more than a good book. Just a day dream.

I try and help you through. To keep you company. Most times all we can do is listen.
Shadows whisper and dance along the walls of our patients. They crawl and hold hands to the ceiling, then fall gently down to new forms, new shapes. Sometimes we hold hands too, and watch them play.

They told me I was starting a fascinating career, and they smiled.
They told me I was in on a great opportunity that would shape my knowledge of human anatomy, what an exciting journey it would be.
She wore a sky blue dress, half ass high heels, and painted lipstick. He wore a black suit with white tie and dress shoes. She was short, and round.
He was tall, and stiff.
I told them yes, I am very fortunate. I told them yes, I am excited.
I did not tell them I am too tired of working with the living. I did not tell them I wasn't a puppeteer.

Deep down in the freezers, these are my companions, my fans. Down here they listen when I speak, no, they absorp my words. I tell them stories while I put them back together like 100 piece puzzles. We share the intimacy of silence. They need me as I need them.
There are no strangers here.
No judgments.
We do not keep secrets.
Though our bodies are cold I keep our souls warm, and safe.
Here, there is no time.
And you come to me, to my office. To my easel and paints, my oils, you my portrait.
My typewriter and ink, you my sheets of blank page.
My courtroom and jury, you my sentence.
You my ballroom, my date.
You,
My body.

I LOVED THIS!
it creeped the living life out of me but I loved it!

"you tell me all about your worst bad day. "
Brilliant!

I also love how you mixed the composition of the human body in there, at first I was wondering what you were doing with all that Oxygen and Carbon, it wasn't until the Nitrogen that I thought "hmmm wait" and it made for such an impacting ending once I realized what you were doing with it. Not to mention how this simple placement of science affects the perception of the title.

Thanks for the post

Much Love

Yeah I wanted to put them throughout the story as a kind of back bone, because it only takes a human to change what your story is
