it's daylight in the swamp
it's spring now -- april 1776
let's open up our little "pissed-off"
old "flint-lock" muskets --
squirrel guns -- (really)
come on you young AMERICAN boys
let's show them that we're free men
here in the U S of A
not no damned BRITISH --
"RED-COAT toys"
with all their "horse-feather" taxations
it's guaranteed to drive anyone and everyone
to some mind numbing vexations
and right after our "harmless prank"
that BOSTON tea party
may all our AMERICAN ships
sail to each and every port
free and hardy
at least that's what the STATUE OF LIBERTY says
that's really what SHE meant and wrote
you must know what I'm trying to say
you must know what I mean
let's say -- kind of-- or maybe--
just somewhat that sort
our AMERICAN ships are free now
to dock at any free port
come on -- you young AMERICAN boys
run them ragged -- on their way back down
to that port -- and yes that town
way way down yonder in LOUISIANA
there along the gulf coast
hey -- let's show them what our famous
rebel held -- deep south is all about
down there -- they will surely
end up as toast -- there along that
sultry and hazy evening coast
with it's GATORS, marshlands, undertows
reverse riptides & yes restless angry
river mouth DELTAS
where there is very little
along the line of
shade or SHELTAS
'cause it's april now -- it's spring
in the year of our LORD -- 1776
with all it's marsh swells
and many spiritual or ritual
tormenting little hells
someone give those "doggoned red-coats"
some stuff to talk about and say
during this april -- this spring
but this time -- on our terms --
and by our way
like they don't even have a prayer
to repeat and say
they haven't got enough sense
to even pray
but for us
it's our AMERICAN way
while they're on their way back down
from those MINNISOTA HEADWATERS
to our "still as of now"
rebel held deep south
may those stubborn red-coats
rest their tired bones
in many many layers
of spiritual or ritual hells
yeah -- let's give those BRITS
somethings to remember us by
like difficult and dangerous scenes
whether they're around fifty or sixty
or just mere boys in their teens
once and for all
give those "BLOKES" some real hell
they've had it coming for a long time now
and hopefully by 12 noon
say tomorrow or even today
and yes -- that soon --
they've had it their way -- for far too long
the time has long past --and finally at last --
for any kind of "native Indian" --POWWOW--
come on -- you young AMERICANS --
let's give them just a taste of hell
actually -- it's just our --
rough and tumble -- "new and yet old"
