Saving Face

She means something to me, something more than most.

To fix this, she told me, you have to show me something,

Say something that means something.

I could not muster the words nor shed a tear.

I did not deserve her, so I hurt myself.

I turned and walked away.

She didn't understand my action.

I showed my back to her because all I had was backbone left.

I was trying to save face.
